Motorcycle Accidents

Motorcycle accidents cause more death and injury than car accidents. If you are involved in a motorcycle accident, your chance for injury is three times higher, and your chance for fatality is fourteen times higher, than if you endured the accident while using an automobile. Many states introduce helmet laws with the aim of reducing accidents and their severity. Nevertheless, motorcycle operators run a high risk for injury and death.

Taking precautions before riding can significantly reduce the risk of rider injury and death. Keep in mind these points the next, and every, time you ride:

  • Wear a helmet and require your passengers to follow suit.
  • Obey traffic laws and pay special attention while you ride, especially in regard to speeding, passing, and your following distance when behind another motor vehicle.
  • Always keep in mind that motorists cannot see your motorcycle as well as they can see other cars. Take steps to increase the visibility of your motorcycle by riding with the headlight on at all times and wearing reflective clothing after dark.
  • Ensure that you are able to control the motorcycle while carrying a passenger. Insist that the passenger obeys your directions while riding.

Roadway defects and hazards have a greater affect on a lightweight, two-wheel motorcycle than they do on large automobiles. Watch for bumps, cracks, loose gravel or any other road condition that might cause you to lose control of your motorcycle.

If you or a loved one has suffered an injury or death as the result of a motorcycle accident, call VanDerGinst Law at 1-866-843-7367 or click here for a FREE online case evaluation. The initial consultation is free of charge. If we agree to handle your injury case, we will work on a contingency fee basis, which means we get paid for our services only if, and when, there is a money recovery for you. In many cases a lawsuit must be filed before an applicable expiration date, known as a statute of limitations. So please call right away to ensure that you do not waive your right to possible compensation.
